This is Tommy. He came to us after serving one month in lockup at the Pueblo Animal Shelter. They said he was 8 years old, but we think he is around 5 or 6. He was an intact male, but has been neutered. His records show that he was surrendered very dirty, full of fleas, and "bites". I don't know why he would have bitten anyone, but they must have done something drastic to deserve it. Tommy is only 37 pounds but needs some regular feeding and we are sure he will put on some weight. Tommy was obviously abused and probably used as a breeding dog. He has some old wounds that have left him scarred physically and mentally. Tommy is without a doubt the sweetest dog that we have ever fostered. He has shown absolutely no aggression towards our five dogs, small children, or adults. How can you look at those BIG brown trusting and adorable eyes and think Tommy would bite anyone. He was very timid and shy at first but didn't take long at all to become comfortable. He didn't have a lot of inside skills but he is learning very fast and feels right at home now. Tommy just needs to learn his boundaries and he is very intelligent. He is kennel trained for bedtime now and doesn't have any food aggression. He is in need of a lot of TLC to make up for the terrible first part of his life. Tommy wants to be touched and cuddled and will return all the affection he can get. If you need a Basset that is going to return all of your LOVE and trust, then Tommy is the one for you.
